Machu Picchu is an Incan citadel which is located above the Urubamba River valley in the Andes Mountains (Peru), It was built in the 15th century and later abandoned, it’s best known for its huge blocks that are connected without the use of mortar, astronomical alignments, and panoramic views. Its exact former use remains a mystery. You can get to Machu Picchu from Cusco by taking the train to Aguas Calientes (about 3,5h) and by bus from there (20min).
