The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China is a series of fortifications built across the historical northern borders of China to protect the Chinese states and empires against the raids of nomadic groups. It isi bulid of stone, brick, tamped earth, wood, and other materials. Some of the walls were being built as early as the 7th century BC. The entire wall with its branches is measured to be 21,196 km (13,171 mi). The most famous sections of the wall (Badaling, Mutianyu, Jinshanling, Simatai) are located about 60-150km from Beijing city centre. You can get there by public transport, private car, or private tours.
