Salar de Uyuni

Salar de Uyuni is the world’s largest salt flat (prehistoric lake that went dry) in the Andes in southwest Bolivia. Its expanse can be observed from central Incahuasi Island. It is famous for its pink flamingos. You must watch the sunrise over the hexagons of salt and enjoy the sun’s reflection in the pools of water, which creates weird optical illusions. Also you should visit the hotel made entirely of salt. If you like more adventure you can take a plane tour and fly over the spectacular landscape of the lake.

Getting there:

Uyuni is well connected with the other bigger sities by bus from La Paz, Potosi, Tupiza, trains from other places like Oruro and Villazon and by plane from La Paz. From there you can choose 1 or multi day tour to the salt flats.

The climate is relativly same all year round. Avarage daily temperatures are around 18 C in the day and -5 in the night.
