Matira Beach, Bora Bora

Matira Beach is the most popular public beach on the Bora Bora island. It is best known by the white sand slopes, palm tree natural shade, sandy bottomed lagoon, warm and shallow water. You can take snorkeling tour and explore the underwater life of the island: coral reefs, colorful fish, rays and sharks or you can get boat, jet ski or aquabike rides and fishing trips. Also you can visit Bora Bora Lagoonarium where you can swim with tropical fish and turtles among the coral reef.Other famous diving site is Tupitiputi point known for a steep drop-off, purple coral and variety of large fish. If you want to explore the island more you can take a 4x4 jeep tour and see the breathtaking views from mount Otemanu, WWII cannons or hike to mount Pahia.

Getting there:

The best access to the island is through Papeete in Tahiti and a short flight to Bora Bora's tiny airport on the Motu Mute.
